How

The Plugged In event

came to be...

The Plugged In concert started as the result of the Youth Advisory Council making the recommendation to the Chandler Cultural Foundation Board of Directors to provide entertainment that would be of interest to a teen audience.  When the Program Committee was looking at acts to consider for the Free Summer Concert Series the recommendation that the Youth Advisory Council had made was brought up to the committee.

The Program Committee moved forward with the idea and invited Youth Advisory Council Alums to help curate the concert.  Plugged In was born and in the first year 6 teen acts performed to over 500 audience members.

In the second year of Plugged In, Rock ‘n Roll High School was invited to participate and combined teens from both organizations as curators.  The teens met as a committee and organized auditions at Alice Coppers Town and Hard Rock Café for local teen bands.

Nine bands were selected to performing the opening night of the Free Summer Concert Series which was part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration weekend for the Chandler Center for the Arts.
